Step 4

Social protection and rehabilitation

Social protection and rehabilitation
If your ability to work has been reduced by illness, you have rights under the social protection system – including a work capacity assessment and professional rehabilitation.
Social protection

If your work capacity has been reduced due to illness, you are entitled to support under the Social Protection Act.

Work capacity assessment

If you have lasting health effects, you can apply to the National Employment Service for a work capacity assessment.

Professional rehabilitation

Based on the assessment, you may be assigned work under adjusted conditions or with support. If your health changes, the process can be repeated.

Social Protection Act

Your rights when work capacity is reduced are set out in the Social Protection Act (pravno-informacioni-sistem.rs/eli/rep/sgrs/skupstina/zakon/2011/24/2/reg).

Professional Rehabilitation Act

Work capacity assessments and employment under adjusted conditions are regulated by the Act on Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities (pravno-informacioni-sistem.rs/eli/rep/sgrs/skupstina/zakon/2009/36/26/reg/20130416).

Work capacity assessment

If you have lasting health effects, you can apply to the National Employment Service for a work capacity assessment. A commission will evaluate how your health affects your ability to work. Based on their findings, you may be assigned work under adjusted conditions or with support.

If your health changes

If your health improves or worsens, you can request a new work capacity assessment.
